My First Purple Glad.....

i have had orange and deep dark red glads...but this is the first time a purple glad has bloomed in my garden.... there are 2 stalks of glad blooms actually.......the bulbs were a gift from our dear ..dear friends ...Ted and Sheila...from Tudor Close, England.....tq again Ted n Sheila....!! really appreciate your lovely gift.. my daughter brought them home towards d end of January.....there were actually a lot of bulbs...of different colored glads.....but only the purple has bloomed up to date.....

Glads are easy plants to grow...just any ordinary garden soil will do.....n enough sunshine to make them happy.....

My Coffee Plant....

i know that there are 3 different types of coffee plants....namely Coffee arabica, C. liberica, and C. robusta...but i do not know which of these 3 is mine... errrmmm very frustrating!!

Another frustrating thing is... tho it has bloomed many times...giving off a lovely LOVELY citrusy fragrance....it has never set fruit.... i long to see it laden with bright red berries.....hopefully this time around...as today i see the blooms being swarmed by insects large and small... a lot of them flitting from bloom to bloom......i pray my wait this time will not be in vain.....simply could not understand why it refuses to set fruit....think coffee plants are self fertile....are they not...?? Or is there  a particular need for a particular pollinator that is not present here in my neigbourhood....??

My Poor Vigna Caracalla....

My poor Vigna is blooming. Not as profusely as i'd have liked it to...but quite so....considering its 'poor constitution'! Its leaves keep yellowing and dropping off....and yet it is blooming for me...and the fragrance its blooms exude is really lovely!!

i wonder whether it is unhappy growing in Malaysia...or have i put it in an unconducive location...one that does not get enough sunlight...??! i chose this location because i wanted to protect it from the heat of direct sun....errmmm may be i should transfer it to a better location...one of these days.....
